Getting Started
You have been given access to the media library — or you are about to ask for it. This page takes you from knowing nothing to watching your first film. Nothing here requires technical skill.
What is Karafa.net?
The media library lives at jellyfin.karafa.net. It is private, and it runs on our own computers rather than in anyone's cloud. Think of it as a personal Netflix: the films and series sit on a machine of ours, and you watch them over the internet from your phone, laptop or TV.
A server is just a computer that is always switched on so other people can reach it. Ours holds the video files. When you press play, the video is sent to your device in small pieces as you watch — nothing is permanently stored on your phone unless you deliberately download it.
The software that presents the library is called Jellyfin. It is free and open source. You will see that name a lot — whenever a guide says "Jellyfin", it means this library.
A normal account costs nothing and always will. Some extras — more simultaneous streams and the motorsport channels — are reserved for people who chip in voluntarily towards hardware and electricity. That is not a subscription and there is no contract: you keep full access to the library either way. The Live TV & motorsport guide explains exactly what is and is not included.
Getting an account
Registration is not open to the public — accounts are created by us, one at a time. This keeps the server fast for the people already using it and keeps strangers out.
Send us an email. Tell us who you are and roughly how you plan to watch (phone, TV, laptop) — that helps us point you at the right app straight away. If we already know each other, a message on any platform works just as well.
Request an invitation
We send you a personal invitation link on wizarr.karafa.net. Open it and you
choose your own username and password right there — we never see your
password and we do not create the account for you. Pick something you will remember.
Enter a real email address while you are there: it is what the server
uses to tell you when a title you requested is ready.
wizarr.karafa.net is only for redeeming the invitation
once. It is not where you watch, and it is not where you log in afterwards. People
routinely go back to Wizarr later, try to sign in, and conclude their account is broken.
It is not. Once the account exists, everything happens at
jellyfin.karafa.net — bookmark that one and forget the
invitation link entirely.
Go to the library itself with the username and password you just chose. That is the address you will use from now on, on every device.
Managing your account and passwordYou are welcome to give your login to a friend or to someone in your family. Just keep one thing in mind: by default an account plays one thing at a time, for everyone using it. If they are already watching, you simply will not be able to start anything until they stop — and the same the other way round. Nobody is signed out and nobody's film is interrupted; the second person just cannot press play. If that becomes annoying, either ask us for a separate account, or add streams through the support tiers.
Your first login
You do not need to install anything to start. Any modern web browser — Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Safari — will do. Open this address:
- Type the address into the bar at the top of the browser, not into Google. Google will search for it instead of opening it.
- A login screen appears with your name on it, or with a box to type a username.
- Enter the username and password you chose in Wizarr. Capital letters matter.
- Tick Remember me if this is your own device, so you do not have to type it every time.
- Press Sign in. You should land on a page full of posters.
Once it opens, bookmark the page (Ctrl + D on Windows,
Cmd + D on a Mac). On a phone, use the browser's share button and
choose Add to Home Screen — it then behaves almost exactly like an installed app.
Connections coming from VPNs, Tor and datacentre proxies are blocked, and you will get a "Proxy detected" page instead of the library. This is deliberate: it is how the server stays off the radar. Disconnect the VPN and reload.
Finding your way around
The first screen is the Home page. It is organised in rows, and it is worth knowing what each one is for:
| What you see | What it means |
|---|---|
| Continue Watching | Anything you started but did not finish. Resumes at the exact second you stopped, even if you stopped on a different device. |
| Next Up | The following episode of a series you are working through. |
| Recently Added | New arrivals. If you requested something, this is where it shows up when it is ready. |
| Movies / Shows | The two main collections. Click either one to browse everything in it. |
| Live TV | 47 Slovak channels in HD, streaming right now — a free bonus for every account. Details here. |
Searching and filtering
The magnifying glass at the top searches titles, actors and directors at once — typing an actor's name is often faster than remembering a film's title. Inside a library, the Filter button lets you narrow by genre, year, or by whether you have already watched something, and Sort can order by date added so you always see the newest first.
A brand-new account sometimes shows an empty Home page until you have watched something. Click into a library from the top menu and it will be full. If a whole library is missing, tell us — permissions are set per account and we may have missed one.
Playing your first film
Click a poster. You get a details page with a description, the cast and a big play button. Press it. The film starts within a few seconds — there is no download and no waiting for it to finish loading.
Move the mouse (or tap the screen) to bring up the controls, then click the speech-bubble icon. You will see the available subtitle tracks — usually English and Slovak. Choosing Off removes them again.
If the language you want is not in the list, that particular file simply does not carry it. Report it with the ⚠ button next to Play and choose Subtitles — a missing track can usually be added within a day.
The speaker icon next to it switches audio tracks, where more than one exists — for example original English versus a Slovak or Czech dub.
The gear icon has a Quality setting. If the picture keeps pausing to load, drop it from Auto to something like 1080p or 720p. The picture gets slightly softer and the stuttering usually stops immediately.
Buffering is the pause you see when your connection cannot deliver the video as fast as you are watching it. Lowering the quality means less data per second, so a slower connection can keep up. It is not a fault in the film — it is a traffic problem.

Common questions
Do I need to pay for anything?
No. A free account gives you the whole Movies and Shows library, the request system, and Live TV as a bonus. There is no trial, no advertising and no contract. Voluntary support does unlock extras — more simultaneous streams and the motorsport channels — but it is support, not a subscription, and the library itself is never behind it. See the Live TV & motorsport guide for the exact breakdown.
How many devices can I use at once?
Log in on as many devices as you like — phone, laptop and TV all signed in permanently is completely fine. The limit is on simultaneous playback: a free account plays one stream at a time, and supporter tiers raise that to two, three, five or eight. If you try to start a second stream while the first is still playing, the second one simply refuses to start — the film already running is not interrupted, and nobody is signed out. Also worth knowing: if a video has to be converted on the fly (transcoding — see the glossary) it costs the server far more, so please do not leave a film running in a forgotten browser tab.
Can I download films to keep?
You can download to the Streamyfin app for offline viewing — on a flight, for instance — and it stays available until you delete it. The browser deliberately does not offer a "save file" button.
The film I want is not there.
That is expected — the library is not everything ever made. Use the request system and it will usually be added within a few hours. Here is how.
Does it work from abroad?
Yes, from any normal residential or mobile connection anywhere in the world. What does not work is connecting through a VPN or a corporate proxy, which many hotel and office networks use — in that case you will see the "Proxy detected" page.
I forgot my password.
There is no automatic reset link. Email [email protected] from the address you signed up with and we will reset it manually, usually the same day.
If something behaves oddly, the troubleshooting guide covers the common cases, and unfamiliar words are all in the glossary. Anything else — just email us.
